Kendall’s Hairstyle
Kendall’s teachers have been sending her home with her hair in a little topknot lately! They say she likes it. (I think they like being able to clean her face easier!) So, this morning I did it up with a little bow. I do find that she likes getting her hair brushed, though, especially just before bed. She seems to find it relaxing, whereas Brian would scream at the sight of a hairbrush at her age! (Lucky for us, his hair is straight and smooth and rarely requires brushing!) She...

Today was Nico’s birthday party, at Chuck E. Cheese. Brandon and I haven’t been to one since we were kids, and in some ways, it hasn’t changed at all.. The fake pop songs are takeoffs of 80’s tunes now, some were clearly Tears for Fears rips (I guess we’re in the sweet spot for parental demographics in there!) Maybe it’s the way the place assaults an older person’s senses, but overall it seemed to be brighter, louder, and altogether more...

Holy moly, what an action-packed day! To start off our busy Saturday, Brandon took Brian to the Lowe’s Build and Grow program. Brian got to build a wooden garage and a little car to go in it, with a real hammer and nails! He got to decorate them with stickers, and he was so proud of his creation. What a fun (free!) activity at the local Lowe’s store. We’re going to have to sign up for more of these! I stayed home with Kendall and we had a little girl time to ourselves....
Read MoreBrian’s Markerboard
Brian’s markerboard continues to be a hit! He’s not interested in the writing templates, he wants to make his own creations. I think we’re looking at a Death Star with an American flag on it–there’s a lot going on here! The thermal exhaust port only two meters wide, and Han Solo coming in to help at the last moment. Kendall is pretty interested in the markerboard, too, but as Brian reminds her, it’s not for babies. He decided to share his remote control...
Read MoreFirst Steps!
Kendall took just a couple of steps on her own today! I was able to catch one of them. We’re so happy to see some progress! She stopped showing much interest in walking after having HFMD twice (and I can’t say I blame her–ouch!) We’re trying all sorts of things to encourage her, even getting different types of shoes.. But, I’m sure she’ll take off really walking when she’s ready. Speaking of shoes, Kendall is a pro at taking off her shoes and...
