Sandstorm, Pajama Day
Brian was really rocking out to one of his current favorite songs, “Sandstorm“, in the car today. The song is older than him, but, he loves it! My first memory of this song is from what passed for my bachelorette party. Some girls and I were at a place sort of like a Dave & Buster’s, with food and lots of video games, but it had a small dancefloor as well. This morning, we wrapped up Brian’s reading class over at NC State. I think it’s been really helpful, both for Brian, and for teaching us parents how to support him. At Grandma’s house for family dinner, Brian brought over his collection of planes, and the kids played with the cardboard airport he’d made. This week was pretty special! We were all excited as the New Horizons craft finally made it to Pluto, and we got to see everyone’s favorite dwarf planet in beautiful detail for the first time. We’d been talking to Brian about it for years, and we were so happy that everything went well with the mission. Kendall was up early this morning, and decide to bring all her ponies into our bathroom (?) for a pony party. Okay Kendall, we get it, we’re awake…! Sheesh. We haven’t had a weekend this summer that has been good for backyard splash fun yet, so we decided that today had to be the day, even though the ground was a bit soggy and clouds were in the forecast. Happy 4th of July! The kids had a second round of fun with the kiddie pool in the backyard today. Again it wasn’t quite as sunny or warm as we probably would have liked, but the kids still had a good time. This evening we packed up some snacks and a pile of glow sticks and headed to the parking deck at Red Hat Tower to see the downtown fireworks.
