Well, it’s the last day of our trip in Colorado! It always goes by so quick. Today, we started as we did a lot of days of this trip with a competitive game of Uno. You go to Colorado Springs, you go up Pikes Peak, that’s how this works. And, as someone that grew-up at altitude, I feel it my duty to acclimatize the low-land family to being less than three miles up 🙂 We headed out fairly early in the morning to avoid any potential late-day thunderstorms and/or clouds. Time to take the kids to the zoo where they belong! Wait, we’re just visiting the zoo? Oh, okay, that’s cool too 🙂 It has been nearly four years since we visited the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Today, we made our return with Kendall on the outside! Each time I return, I’m amazed how much it has improved since I was a kid in Colorado. Another beautiful Colorado day! Today’s adventures started with quick lunch/brunch in Manitou Springs. Then we were off to the United States Air Force Academy to tour the grounds. I intended on showing Kendall and Brian my old Elementary school where I went to first grade. We looked at the forecast for the week in the greater southern Colorado region to find the best weather day to do an all day excursion. And today is that day. We are off to the Great Sand Dunes National Park! It’s quite a few hours to get there, so we decided to have lunch at All-Gon Pizza in Fort Garland.
