Marci’s Birthday
Today we played at home during the day, and the kids had fun with their kitchen and play food. Brian’s balloon guy is still hanging tough after what feels like months (I can’t bring myself to disappear him–“he is a purson” after all!) For our Sunday family dinner, we went out this time–to Winston’s, for Marci’s birthday! The kids were entertaining (if not perfectly behaved)! We had a great meal, way too much sugar, and a good time was had by...

I managed to chase down an iPod classic and dock like my dad had on eBay, and loaded it up with lots of fun stuff so we can enjoy music in our family room. The kids think this is great! The way they skip tracks so quickly, though, I’m questioning the wisdom of putting this in reach of them.. 😉 But, maybe it’ll provide lots of teachable moments about sharing and patience? Tonight we had Sue’s famous chocolate chip cake for dessert at our family dinner, and she shared with...

It was so long, I managed to wrap her up in it like a sari! My little maharani....

A full two months early. How? Somehow that seemed such a beautiful, hopeful, thing. (Somehow, I don’t really want to write about the funeral itself. It was performed well, attended well, the kids did well, and I couldn’t have asked for anything better or...
Read MoreMore Baking, and Jo’s Birthday
Today was a busy one! We started out early with the kids waking us up to go and watch a squirrel in a tree outside our bathroom window (the height of excitement, truly). Nana Rosemary came by this morning for some more baking, and this time we made red velvet cupcakes! The kids made some more holiday crafts (I keep a lot of options on hand to keep them busy!) In the afternoon we went to Spring Arbor for Granny Jo’s birthday. She seemed happy to see us, and we all enjoyed the...
