Election Day!

Election Day!

It’s election day!  Yes, a very minor one in the grand scheme of things, but a very important one to us.  There’s a bond referendum for funding renovations and expansions of schools in Wake County, and we know how important that is!  Root was renovated a few years ago, and the faculty are still talking about what a difference it has made for the kids.  We didn’t end up sending Brian to Stough, but we have a lot of love for it, since it is our closest neighborhood school and our polling place for the past 7 years.  We really hope that Stough and other schools will benefit from this bond, even if it might not help out Root directly this time.   We’ve always taken Brian with us to the polls, since we think it’s important for him to see us doing our civic duty.  But, Kindergarten has to start on time, and we didn’t have our act together enough to be able to take both of them with us today.  So, Brian went to school first, and Kendall had some special time with us.  She brought a little cuteness to the (probably quite bored) poll workers. 🙂  And yay, breaking news, the bond passed!  Woohoo!

Our election was all mail-in ballots and the school measure was defeated by 2/3 majority because it was poorly worded as to what the money was going to be used for among other things. The tax on recreational marijuana passed, which will be used to help fund public school construction, so the potheads will help the schools but other taxpayers said no???
