Cake Pops!

Cake Pops!

It was a teacher workday today, and I was happy to take the day off and stay home with Brian!  Brandon knew I’d be home with him, so he took Kendall in the morning.  They left us a little surprise made from blocks in the bathroom to find!  I laughed and laughed, such a cute display.  Brian and I had a good time together, playing and doing arts and crafts, and he even helped me assemble the goody bags for Kendall’s party.  He made a paper spaceship (of course), and made a rather festive-looking spaceship with Legos from one of our winter village sets!

I try to always have a “project” on hand for these sorts of days, and today we tackled one that was pretty ambitious!  I had a kit to make caramel apple cake pops, and even with a lot of the ingredients pre-assembled, wow, was this an undertaking!  All told, it took about five hours, with all the mixing and baking and mashing and freezing and melting and dipping and decorating.  Neither of us expected the part where you bake a sheet cake, and then smash it all up with your hands, mooshing in some icing as you go!  That was some sticky fun right there.  Next we formed the mushy mess into balls, stuck the sticks in them, and froze them for awhile.  Brian helped with all of the steps, including dipping them in the melted confectionary wafers!  This was a fairly messy task, but we had fun doing it.  You can even tell they sort of look like caramel apples!  After dinner, Kendall wasn’t sure about the pops at first, but once she tried it, wow!  It’s fair to say that she was a fan. 🙂

Nice looking spacecraft, Brian. I bet that cake treat was yummy and the tray of them looks like they came from a candy shop.
