Backyard Fun!

We had a pretty fun Saturday today!  This morning, Kendall and I played with her new Duplo boat while Brian was at swimming lessons.  She was so cute, getting really excited about the boats and especially the red bunny and yellow bear that came with them!  Nana came by and played with the kids for awhile, and they did some artwork together.  When they played downstairs, Kendall discovered the take-apart SUV and power drill, and now she’s really into that!  She also took apart the Automoblox as well. 😉  Later in the afternoon, we decided to play outside since it was a nice day.  Okay, being honest, I got the idea because I didn’t want the kids to eat their Peeps candy inside–green sugar getting all over the furniture, carpet..!  No thanks. 😉  It really was a nice afternoon, and we ended up playing in the sandbox.  Brandon had the idea of adding some water to the sandbox (our current set of play sand is really dusty–almost to the point of not being all that fun to play with!)  And, predictably, the kids both ended up wanting to use the water hose, and then, predictably, they both ended up soaked.  So, we had an inadvertent splash day!  It’s too early for that sort of thing and not quite warm enough, but they were having so much fun, we just went with it.  After changing clothes, we even went back for some more sandbox fun!  We played so late, we ended up doing one of Brian’s favorite things for dinner–making a big party tray of finger foods, and watching a movie together.  Since we were all wet and also sandy (again!), we had them take their bath first and put on pajamas before dinner.  They were not too keen on upsetting the routine, but we made it fun by calling it a “button-pajama party” and Brandon and I wore our PJs, too.  (A few weeks ago the kids noticed they both were wearing button-down pajamas.  They asked if we had some like that, and I did, but Brandon didn’t–after that, I bought him a set just for a situation like today!)  We ended up watching Cinderella, and even skeptical-boy Brian seemed to enjoy it.  Everyone was a little verklempt by the end!

Grandma Cheryl looked at the photos and videos 8-12-14. Kendall I have some hot pink Crocs, too, but not as fancy as yours. I remember playing under the granary when I was a kid. We used to make mud pies and mud cakes. Kids are attracted to mud or wet sand.
