Predictably, this weekend was a hot one! We decided to let the kids have a splash day to celebrate the summer-like weather. While the pool was warming up, the kids played with some of their new books from the Goddard book fair–the how-to-draw books were a big hit with Brian! I couldn’t resist drawing some animals of my own, too. 🙂 Kendall is loving her Lego Duplo Cinderella castle and coach! Y’all know I’m not all that into the corporate-princess thing, but she really got into this castle at the Lego Kids Fest, and it has some really cool elements. As much as I realize we don’t need one more Duplo brick in this house, she really, really loved it–and despite his initial “ew, girl stuff” reaction, Brian ended up playing with it, too. 😉 I like how they mixed sets to create some cool features (especially the slide!) Then, we were outside for splash time! Kendall is really enjoying her additional height this year–she can climb in and out of the pool much easier than last year! She is much less wary about the pool, and jumps right in, making the biggest splash she can, squealing with delight! The foam soakers continue to be a big hit with both kids. During Kendall’s nap, Brian and I played his Lego Star Wars “Battle of Hoth” game, and in the play kitchen some. He assures me the steak-and-cauliflower-in-a-bowl is actually a volcano brownie sundae. 😉 Very creative, Brian!

Splashing in your pool looks like great fun.
