First Grade!

Today Brian officially started first grade!  He has some brand-new How to Train Your Dragon 2 school supplies, and he was very excited to start the new school year.  First through fifth graders just do the regular carpool on the first day, so just he went on in by himself!  But he’s a pro, so we weren’t worried. 🙂  Root’s new on-campus after school program doesn’t start for another week, so that means, we have to be on afternoon carpool as well!  This is a whole new animal for us.  The carpool line was so long and so intense, we were wrapped all around the neighborhood, and watched one car overheat!  Yikes.  We eventually got Brian, about 45 minutes after school had ended.  At home, Brian had a little bit of time before we got Kendall, and he made some artwork celebrating summer (the end of it, I guess!)  We let Brian pick what he’d like to do for a celebratory first day of school dinner, and he picked Chili’s.  We had a nice dinner and the ridiculous chocolate lava cake for dessert.  After bath, I surprised the kids with new Dragon t-shirts, and their coordinating Halloween pajamas.  Even though it’s a long way off, they wanted to go ahead and start wearing them!  They really like those mummy pajamas, and wanted to have a dance party to celebrate.  But, it’s a school night, and Kendall still has to do her nebulizer treatments, so it’ll have to wait for another day. 🙂
