Today Brian got inspired after watching an episode of Blue’s Clues, where Blue makes a special place, with all her favorite things. Brian decided to make his own special place, and this is what he came up with! A place with some favorite toys, some paper and markers to draw with, his viking helmet and sword and shield for defense, etc. Later today we went out to Rosemary’s place and had a cookout! We had gotten the “Labor Day Cookout” style of produce box this week, and we had plenty to share–including brioche rolls, grass-fed organic beef, local hoop cheese, and all the trimmings. We even made some potato salad (which I don’t usually like, but I have found this one recipe that I actually love!) and a Jell-O salad for dessert (okay, it was pretty much for the kids! Made with orange jello, mandarin oranges and marshmallows). We got home way too late, and on one of my trips bringing things in from the van, I noticed a dragonfly had gotten caught in the garage. As I watched it, it landed on the van’s tire, and it did something I’d never seen before–it folded its wings up all together! How cool is that? I wish the picture was better quality! Anyway, I hated to wake it up, but I opened the garage and let it back outside.

I like the way Kendall said “hello” in the video. Brian that is a great special place. When we were kids we called places like that our “forts”. I printed the recipe – it sounds delicious.
