Ava’s 4th Birthday Party

Today was another super-packed Saturday!  We started off the morning with a Build and Grow session for Brian, where he made a cool fire truck.  I stayed home with Kendall, who continued to be interested in painting today.  We also did a lot of puzzles!  When Brian got home, he did some painting and puzzles, too!  But not for too long, because we had a party to get to!  Our cousin Ava’s 4th birthday party was today, and we knew it was going to be a Frozen party with a special guest!  It was at a park we’d never been to in Garner, and it had so much cool playground equipment.  The kids really were excited about all that, plus cake and special guests, too.  Well, Brian played it cool when the princesses arrived.  We asked if he’d like to get a picture made with them, and he said “Nah, I’m okay.”  But he kept a curious eye on them, and was waving and shouting “Bye, princesses!!” when they left!  Kendall seemed pretty “frozen” (ha!) herself when they arrived, and got a serious case of shyness.  She didn’t seem to want to go sit with them for a photo, but after watching the other girls, she eventually went for it!  I was glad to see Carey Ann and Mandy there, and had a great time talking with both of them, when I could!  I was so impressed with Carey Ann, handling the party with such grace, even when she discovered the park had double-booked her picnic shelter.  Ava was an adorable birthday girl, and I think the princesses being there was a real dream come true for her!  So sweet.  After he kids loved the big rotating circle thing, like the one at Root, and Brian loved this big teeter-totter-rope-swing thing (I have no idea what one calls such a swing!)  The kids played for such a long time, it really was a fantastic party.  Rosemary came and watched the kids this evening, so that Brandon and I could go out.  She surprised us by brining 3 jars of crabapple jelly!  The kids had breakfast for dinner and got to sample some on their toast.  They both helped make the eggs as well!  Brandon and I had a great seafood dinner, did a little shopping at the bookstore (old school!  so many dates where we ended up at bookstores), and it was a lovely evening all around. 😉

I looked up Garner on the map: beautiful maintained park. Fun time at Ava’s party. Wonder if the Frozen princesses are college students who came up with a great idea for a part-time job?
