Today we had a fun Sunday at home! Brian built this wooden pirate ship, from a kit he’d gotten from Lowes. He decorated it a lot more (with colorful electrical tape!) after these photos were taken. Some neighborhood kids came by, and OMG, do they lack boundaries, impulse control, and any sort of parental supervision. After only a few interactions, we’re now super wary of these kids, who will just walk up into the garage and start messing with stuff, and are constantly banging on the front door, yelling “Can he play?” They don’t even know Brian’s name, but they sure as heck want to play all the time. We were outside anyway today, so we indulged them and let them work together to build a wooden car, from a second kit that Brian had. Brian was super nice and let the pair of brothers actually keep the wooden car. Their mom finally appeared hours later, trying to make them return it, but Brian confirmed he really did want them to have it. Different families have different rules, but I really wonder about letting a Kindergartener and a second grader play in the street unsupervised for hours at a time these days, even in a really safe neighborhood like ours. We have to remind Brian of our family’s rules, when these kids influence him to do horrifying things like drive his plasma car out into the street. 😐
Kendall was into painting and puzzles today, and she liked wearing her new Frozen t-shirt that Brian picked out for her. She really liked the Frozen fruit snacks that Brandon found for her! She also discovered the monarch butterfly costume that I picked up for her, for Halloween next year (it was really cute, and on clearance!!) She’s definitely going to be the Buttercup Fairy this year, as she reminds us all, on the regular. Brian liked his new dragon and viking winter hats, and both kids still love those foam swords. 🙂

Sorry you are having trouble with neighborhood boys. Can you believe that Mother did not check on her kids for hours or know where they were? Brian, you were generous to give the boy a wooden car.
They are still terrorizing the neighborhood–now they even have sirens mounted on their bicycles that sound like car alarms. >_<
