Baking Day!

Baking Day!

Today, Nana Rosemary came to our house for a fun-filled day of holiday baking!  Kendall was home from school today, so we were able to have three generations of “the girls” (as Kendall started calling us) all working together.  The kids each got a cake to decorate from Nana, and they went to town on them, just covering them with icing, sugar, sprinkles, and even adding some graham crackers to make doors and windows so they could be like gingerbread houses.  I felt lucky to have the chance to re-learn about how to make some of my mom’s traditional goodies, and Kendall really enjoyed being able to help!  We stepped out for awhile this afternoon to visit the doctor, since Kendall had her 3-year checkup this afternoon, and she’s doing great, of course.  After school, Brian was excited to decorate his cake, and help make some cookies!  He was happy to show Nana the bat he brought home from school, and the felt scarecrow, corn, pumpkin, and tomato he’d made on a day off from school as well.  The kids made some craft ornaments when there was less for them to do in the kitchen (and we needed some space for Brandon while he was making the world-famous Patti LaBelle Mac and Cheese)!  Eventually we ate, did our advent calendars, and got the kids to bed.  Brian was still playing with the balloon “purson” he made weeks ago.

I love listening to Rosemary’s southern accent. Great idea to have 2 ready to decorate cakes for Kendall and Brian.
