Brian had decided back in August what he wanted to give Grandpa Steve for his birthday–his own Build-A-Bear, dressed up as a little fisherman–complete with a little fishing rod and two sparkly plush fishes. He never forgot this plan, and was just so set on it, today we made it a reality. The kids both took this present-making very seriously. They started to argue over who got to prepare the little heart that goes inside the bear before it was stitched up–but then decided, Steve’s bear should have two hearts, one from each kid. When they explained their plan to the staff member, she said it was going to be a very special bear indeed, one that would carry double the love for one really special Grandpa. They both did the sweet little heart-warming ritual, and put their hearts inside. The staff member finished the bear, and the kids gave him a bath, and dressed him up. We delivered the new bear to Grandpa Steve later this evening for his birthday. The kids were so excited to tell him about the two hearts. 🙂
