Here are the kids playing donut shop today..! All of those Melissa and Doug wooden food toys have been such hits with them. 🙂 Tonight at dinner, Brian was begging to hear Queen songs, so we showed him some videos from the group. Most are live performance videos, which are pretty fun to see. Brian clearly wanted to get in on the action, drumming on the table! Kendall danced along as well.
Afterward, we still had to study spelling words. I included some video of our study time that highlights Brian’s inability to sit still, just in case anyone thinks we’re full of it when we say he really struggles with attention and controlling his body. And lest you think he was hamming it up for the camera, actually, he was reining it in some, once he saw me holding my phone. I still think 20+ spelling words each week is a bit much for first grade.. Honestly, we’ve all come to dread the pressure of studying for those tests. :/ He’s becoming such a great reader, but spelling is a huge struggle, for all of us.
I confess I am not knowledgeable of the connection or separate nature of autism and attention deficit. I will pray for Brian’s continued progress with therapy.
