Today started our long weekend together at home for Easter break. We’ve been enjoying putting up some decorations, like a felt egg garland in the kitchen, and Brian has been going to town decorating some foam easter egg shapes with stickers! I’d bought him some “hatching egg” toys, which have a mystery baby animal toy inside that emerges after soaking the egg in water for a few days. Brian chose the green egg, and we put it in a vase. We’ll watch it over the weekend to see what it hatches! Today’s big project, however, was making our Easter eggs! Brian had a blast, coloring eggs and then decorating them with stickers and accessories. This year we saw some Star Wars, Angry Birds, and Hello Kitty egg decorating kits, so we just had to get those. Brian made some Hello Kitty eggs for Kendall, and lots of Star Wars and Angry Birds eggs! Kendall’s nap kept her from taking a bigger part in the festivities, but that’s okay.. She’ll be able to help out next year. 🙂 After the egg decorating, Brian wanted to play Easter Bunny. So, we took out the plastic eggs we’ve collected over the years at various egg hunts, and took turns hiding them around the house and outside in the back yard. We’ve had such a cold spring this year, the kids haven’t been able to play outside as much as they would have liked. But today was nice, and we had so much fun running around on the grass! Later we went to our local Venezuelan restaurant, Guasaca, and then to Orange Leaf for frozen yogurt. All in all a pretty awesome day!
I’d noticed the camera was acting funny, today, and–to my horror, this evening discovered that the memory card had gone bad somehow. I hadn’t synced the camera in a few days, and now hundreds of pictures from egg decorating and the kids playing outside today (and the past week or so) are apparently gone. I tried everything I know how to do, but, no luck. At least I took a few photos today with my phone, and that’s what you see here. We’re going to try a data recovery service, hopefully they can get something off of the card. (Update: they weren’t able to recover anything… 🙁 We might try a second service. This bugs me way more than it probably should, I know, but still..!)

I have been doing a lot of projects in the yard so just catching up on your photos today. Our roof is being replaced and no outside work for me today. You all had a fun day decorating eggs I can see.
