One of Brian’s favorite songs on the CD from Grandpa Steve is what he calls the “Monkey Song”. It’s “Jungle Love” by Morris Day and the Time (from 1984), and it starts off with some fun monkey sounds.. But Brian really gets into the whole song. He can move and groove in his booster seat like you wouldn’t believe. He usually does his best work when nobody’s looking (yay for kid-rearview-mirrors!) but today after school, I was able to capture a bit of video which showcases some of his antics. Kendall gets into it, too! She claps along and has some cool moves of her own. They are so funny! 🙂
A couple stills from the video:

Brian insists on listening to Jungle Love about 5 times a day (or at least it feels like it!) Brandon and I find it particularly hilarious, because the song features prominently in a movie we like from years ago, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, by Kevin Smith. Now if you don’t immediately know who Jay and Silent Bob are, well… You have to watch Clerks. That’s one of the defining independent films of our generation, and I don’t even know how many times Brandon and I have seen it. Kevin Smith went on to make many more movies, but the characters of Jay and Silent Bob show up in a number of his films. Anyway, they’re not exactly upstanding citizens, being burnout drug dealers and all.. But we find them hilarious. 🙂 Brandon, having listened to Jungle Love about 10x in a row today, has resorted to sending me text messages of quotes from the movie, where Jay expresses his love for The Time:
Here’s the relevant clip from the movie (warning: if you couldn’t tell from the above, this would get a TV-MA for drugs, language, and violence, so don’t click if you’re at work or easily offended.) 🙂

We watched the video a couple times this morning. It was the first time we heard the song, Jungle Love. Brian keeps good time to the music and Kendall seems to be enjoying herself, too.
