‘Canes Alumni Game

Today was the Carolina Hurricanes’ Alumni Game, which is a really fun family event that we look forward to!  Veteran players return to the ice, and even some fans get to play with them (I think they probably have to make a pretty nice donation to charity to get the chance..!  🙂  Kendall was adorable in her pink jersey, and Brian was rocking both the black jersey and ball cap.  (He was pretty pleased with those bunny snacks in the tie dye bag, he wants you to know about them!)  Our friend Jennie was in attendance as well, and spent a little time visiting with us in the stands.  The alumni game is low pressure (and pretty low attendance, sadly!) but it’s big on fun and silliness.  We made the most of it and enjoyed a pile of hockey arena snacks and treats.  The kids loved the action and being able to sit closer to the ice, not to mention the ice cream!  They were about the best-behaved kids imaginable, but it’s still pretty exhausting wrangling them both!  Afterward, we were all so beat, that when Brian wanted to crash in on Kendall’s bath, we said what the hey, and filled up the big tub, too.  Kendall thought that having her brother in the adjacent tub was hilarious, and Brian had his silly meter cranked to eleven.  They both love it when we pour water in the tubs from high up, Hungry Farmer-style.  (Aw man, we won’t be able to take the kids there in Colorado Springs, now that it’s closed!)  Also included, random shots of Kendall being adorable in her Valentine’s Day shirt (since we missed getting a picture the day of, and now, she’s pretty much outgrown it!  But hey, it was festive for the ‘Canes game.)

I looked up a story on the internet about the Hungry Farmer (on Garden of the Gods Road) which closed in 2003. The building was demolished in 2009. It was called a “high pour” the way the waiters poured coffee. Wished I would have visited it before they closed. Roger said that he thinks a gas station is there now.
Looks like a great time was had by all at the hockey game.
