Crazy Hair Day
Today was crazy hair day at Root, as part of Spirit Week leading up to the Boosterthon. We weren’t quite sure what we could do with Brian’s hair, but we knew how much he likes a bathtub mohawk, so I did what I could with some hairspray! (I surprised myself by actually owning some.) Only after I finished did he tell me there was only one rule for crazy hair day–no mohawks. Well! I thought that was a silly rule, so I told him if the man tries to hassle him, just say...

Brian has been asking us to come have lunch with him at school more often. A lot of the moms don’t work and are there all the time, it seems! We promised to come as much as we can, and today Brandon made good on that promise. 🙂 When a parent visits for lunch, their child gets to pick one friend and then go sit at the special visitor table in the cafeteria. He’d been asking us to do this for some time, and the timing lined up nicely. But, as it turned out, we didn’t get there in time to intercept him, and he already had his school lunch when we arrived.. So we just saved his Subway sandwich for later. 🙂 He got to choose one friend to join us, and he picked Ladd. After lunch, we had a little more...

Tonight was STEM Family night at Root, and we all went to enjoy the festivities, a quick dinner, and Brian’s favorite, the Kona Ice snow cones. There were a lot of activities, and the school was totally packed! I mean, really, wall-to-wall kids and parents and volunteers–to the point that I started to wonder if there was a fire marshall on hand. 😉 The mass of humanity made it really hot inside, and the noise, oh… the noise. But! It was great to see just how much Brian...
