Art on Sunday, Trace’s Birthday
Today Kendall went to a birthday party for her friend Trace. It was at one of those indoor play/bouncy places, so Brandon was on duty (I can’t stand the noise in those places, not to mention how every surface manages to feel sticky..) This afternoon, both kids used their new colored pencils, a souvenir from the Netherlands that Nana brought back. Brian wanted to make a picture of tulips like on the box, and asked me to find him some photos like that (I’ve included some below)....

We started off our Saturday with a loaf of lemon bread, yum! Brian stepped out for awhile today to go to his friend Anderson’s birthday party. Nana and Sytse are back from their trip abroad, and they came by for a visit this evening. Everyone got lots of cool souvenirs from Germany and the Netherlands, and Nana even shared her chocolate letter with us! Kendall wished there was a letter K, so we kind of made the R into a K for a bit....

Today was my last day in Vegas, and it was a long one! I was happy to see some women represented in the “backs of heads” advertising campaign–I’d complained about that earlier this year, when it seemed that only dudes used Splunk as their secret weapon. 😉 The conference wrapped up, and we had some time to kill before our plane home, so did some souvenir shopping. The soap store, where everything looked like a dessert, was a lot of fun! I wish I could have gotten...

Third verse, same as the first! Another day of conference fun. Today there was a Women in Tech luncheon, and I laughed at the place settings when I sat down–salad and chocolate, for the ladies. So typical it could’ve come right out of Getty Images or something. 😉 Luckily real food was forthcoming. We were annoyed this morning, as breakfast was much later than advertised–so there were 4,000 hungry attendees milling around while we waited for the food to be ready! Not...

Woohoo, Vegas!! Um, hardly, it’s work. 😉 Other than the bright lights at the keynote speeches this morning, it was a day of wall-to-wall conference, as I attended as many security-focused panels as I could fit into my day. There was a party again this evening, but we were disappointed that the food wasn’t as varied or as good as last year. The giant inflatable Buttercup Pony was back, though, so I had to take photos for the kiddos....
