Inside Out!
Today was the last day of Brian’s “Science Fun for Everyone” camp, and they had a fun Diet Coke & Mentos exhibition! Brandon and I couldn’t get there, but Grandma Sue did, and sent us these pictures. Looks like it was a lot of fun! Kendall had a splash day today, always exciting for her. Tonight we took the kids to see the new Disney/Pixar movie, Inside Out! After months of hype, we had our hopes up–and, we weren’t disappointed! Lots of funny...

Kendall loves these paper bag puppets, made from a kit that came as a prize in her Chick-Fil-A kid’s meal. She loves Pink Puppy and Blue Robot, and likes to make up puppet shows with...

Well, it’s the last day of our trip in Colorado! It always goes by so quick. Today, we started as we did a lot of days of this trip with a competitive game of Uno. We decided to do a quick site-seeing tour of my old stomping grounds of northern Colorado Springs, known as Briargate. We drove by my first house, 8440 Freemantle Dr. Although the paint and landscaping was different, it looked quite similar to how I remembered. Then, we drove by my second house, 8810 Alpine Valley Dr. Here,...

You go to Colorado Springs, you go up Pikes Peak, that’s how this works. And, as someone that grew-up at altitude, I feel it my duty to acclimatize the low-land family to being less than three miles up 🙂 We headed out fairly early in the morning to avoid any potential late-day thunderstorms and/or clouds. That plan was good as when we came down later in the day, the peak was covered in thunderstorms. Brian really enjoyed tracking our progress by mile-marker on his map. We are up there a...

Time to take the kids to the zoo where they belong! Wait, we’re just visiting the zoo? Oh, okay, that’s cool too 🙂 It has been nearly four years since we visited the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Today, we made our return with Kendall on the outside! Each time I return, I’m amazed how much it has improved since I was a kid in Colorado. They have reduced the quantity of animals, but have really increased the quality of the enclosures. The elephant exhibit is really amazing, and this...

Another beautiful Colorado day! Today’s adventures started with quick lunch/brunch in Manitou Springs. Then we were off to the United States Air Force Academy to tour the grounds. I intended on showing Kendall and Brian my old Elementary school where I went to first grade. However, with the enhanced security in place, the cadets guarding the roads wouldn’t let me go that direction by the stadium. So, we took in the B-52 exhibit, followed by the visitor’s center. We watched...
