Raleigh Christmas Parade and Cake Pickup
Today we had an opportunity to be in the Raleigh Christmas parade, riding on the Goddard School float! It was a cold one, and we bundled up as best we could, wearing lots of layers. We were towards the back of the parade, and during the lineup we were directly in front of Santa Claus. The kids got to meet him, which was a pretty special treat. Stormy came by as well, also a pretty special treat. Ms. Robin, and Mr. Malay and Mrs. Vineeta were on hand and also helped to keep the kids happy....

Today, we went to the Ren Faire! It was bitterly cold, and I’m having some complications from my supposedly-zero-downtime surgery, which put a damper on things (for me, anyway). They had a display out front of a Delorean and hover board, like from the Back To The Future movies (we had to explain those to the kids). Over the weekend, we picked up some treasure boxes for the kids, thinking they’d keep things in them like their dress-up clothes, etc. Brian had other plans, however! He made a treasure hunt for us, complete with maps, and instructions that led us to.. further instructions. Eventually, we followed all of his maps and found the treasure–which was all of his yellow and gold-colored Halloween candy! Today was the kids’ dentist visit, and we’re proud to report: no cavities! Both kids did great, and got to choose a prize afterward. Brian was pretty excited to get a mini Rubik’s cube! When we took him back to school, we were happy to see not one, but two pieces of Brian’s artwork, framed and hanging up on the main hallway’s wall at Root! One was his collage that had been at the State Fair, and the other was him being a super hero, rescuing a puppy. Great...

Kendall said today was a “no nap, just a rest” sort of day. What that ended up being was her bouncing on my bed, watching My Little Pony, and playing with toys, such as the Baby Beach Band that Katie gave Brian when he was just born.
