Ren Faire!

Today, we went to the Ren Faire!  It was bitterly cold, and I’m having some complications from my supposedly-zero-downtime surgery, which put a damper on things (for me, anyway).  They had a display out front of a Delorean and hover board, like from the Back To The Future movies (we had to explain those to the kids).  We were able to see some of our favorite shows, and some new ones.  We ate some of our favorite snacks, shivering in the cold.  Brandon’s friend Miguel stopped by, and they had a fun chat, reminiscing about the past 14 or so years at the Faire.  Brian wore his play Viking costume, and Kendall and I wore our fancy hats (but only briefly–it was way too cold!)  The kids got a Viking battle axe and a cute unicorn wooden shield as their souvenirs, and Brian managed to beg his way into a wooden toy boat as well.  We called it a day, and then spent the evening visiting with one of Brandon’s favorite professors, Dr. Al Maisto, and his son.  The kids were very happy to play at his house, and loved his fancy pool table!  They were pretty good guests, especially considering the busy day they’d had.  I probably pushed myself more than I should have, but I didn’t want to prevent anyone else’s fun. 🙂
