Rootin’ Tootin’ Fun!

Tonight was our introduction to Root Elementary’s “Rootin’ Tootin'” fall fundraising celebration.  I have never seen such a school event before.  There were carnival games, pony rides, a bake sale, a silent auction…!  For a small school, there was quite a turnout!  The photos don’t really reflect the mass of humanity that was in attendance.  The cafeteria was as packed as a mall food court on Black Friday.  I couldn’t believe how rafted up the bake sale tables were at the beginning–nor how desolate they were at the end. 😉  I was glad to see that my pies were sold!  We bought our pizza and had some baked treats and then went outside to enjoy the festivities.  Brian loved all the games, including bowling, the dunking booth, the trampoline, and especially the plasma car race!  It was one of the first things he did, and he had to do it one last time before we left.  His classmate Hayes was his racing partner both times.  I captured both of his victories on video!  He begged us to add a red plasma car to his wish list.  He said it had to be a red one, since that was his lucky color tonight. 😉  We saw his preschool teacher, Ms. Sarah Catherine, and had a nice chat, and his Kindergarten teacher as well, Ms. Boswell.  Brian was very proud to show us around his school, and we had a fun (yet exhausting!) time together.  We stayed as long as Kendall could deal, but eventually we had to call it a night.

Nice event and photos. Reminds me of a bumper stick I saw once: “What if the military had to have a bake sale to buy a fighter jet and schools were totally funded”

P.S. We watched the car races, Brian. Congratulations on winning both races. Did you know Grandpa’s sports car is red, also?
