Today we packed up and hit the road early to visit the zoo! The kids watched Star Wars on the drive, and then we set out to explore. It was a really hot day, but we still visited all of our usual stops along the trail. I was happy to see my favorites, the ocelot, the bobcat, and the otters. Kendall seemed to be really interested in the grizzly bear, saying “bear” a few times (mostly before I was recording, of course) and of course everyone loves the zebras and giraffes. A new favorite today was the puffin exhibit. It was so amazing to see them “flying” underwater, very relaxing to watch (plus their habitat is quite cool, and dark–totally worth the fishy smell to get out of the heat!) We had a nice pizza lunch, rode the tram and the zebra bus, had Dippin’ Dots for a treat, took a break to watch the geyser, and even fit in some playground time. The harbor seals really put on a show for us, it was so cool to see them up close. We did the obligatory gift shop visit, and the kids chose the big fuzzy snakes as their prize. Can’t say those would have been my first choice, but, they seemed really into them, so, we went with it. 😉
