Today we made the trip out to Chapel Hill Creamery once more for their family day! The kids really enjoyed the hay ride and seeing all the cows. There was a newborn calf, only one day old! There was a neat writing spider with a cool web–reminded me of Charlotte’s Web. Mental note, be sure to share that book with the kids once they have slightly longer attention spans! Brian enjoyed meeting a friendly barnyard cat, sampling fresh cheese, and watching a young cheesemaker demonstrate how cheese is made. We bought a small wheel of “Carolina Moon” brie as a souvenir, and everyone was nice and exhausted by the time we dragged ourselves back to the van!

The baby calf is so cute and the spider not so cute. Grandma has a phobia (fright) about spiders although that garden spider is harmless to humans. The cow’s milk from our farms when we were growing up went to a cheese factory where it was made into cheddar cheese.
