Ren Faire!

Today we were off to the Renaissance Faire with the Orazis!  It’s a bit of a drive to get out there, about three hours–but it’s worth it!  When we arrived, everyone was feeling a little hungry, so we powered off to the furthest end of the park for some lunch.  Brandon was feeling like bratwurst, and to our surprise, Kendall seemed to like it, too!  Even with the sauerkraut and spicy mustard.  After lunch, we took in some shows, including some fire-eating “pirates” and a blacksmith.  We got Kendall a cute headband (Brian picked it out!) and as promised, on the way out we let Brian get a shield.  He almost didn’t believe us that he already had a sword at home–we had to take it out and let him play with it a little before bedtime!  We sort of watched the joust, Brian didn’t want to get any closer than the playground, and took up a seat at the top of the slide.  Inventive, if maybe inconvenient for the other kids!  One of the last activities we tried was the archery booth.  Brian did his best, despite his arm brace (and probably sub-par instruction from mom and dad!)  Kendall didn’t find this terribly exciting, though, and soon fell fast asleep in the backpack, still wearing her headband!  After finishing up with his arrows, Brian met some of the jousting knights!  A little incongruous, to see suits of armor next to a Lego Star Wars t-shirt, but we just go with these anachronisms..! 😉  It was dusk by the time we made it back to the car.  It was slow going on the way out of town, what with all the traffic, and we hadn’t gotten very far before everyone was hungry again–so we took the kids to Waffle House for dinner!  It looked like we’d ordered one of everything, our table was just packed!

Kendall, beautiful head band. You look like a princess. Brian you look like you had fun with archery and other knight games.
