We put our Christmas tree up today! Although, we had another rude awakening this year–all three extra-long, heavy-duty multicolored strings of lights that we’d had for years had stopped working. So now, not only is our tree no longer pre-lit, (the original lights previously painstakingly removed by Brandon..) Our backup-plan lights are a no-go (even after a valiant effort at fixing them, by Brandon). So, we improvised! Years ago, when we were heavy into our dinner-parties-and-entertaining phase, I’d bought strings of lights in just about every color you could imagine, thinking I’d use them for themed parties. Purple, amber, and green for Mardi Gras, red white and blue for July 4th, and so on. We hadn’t used those lights in quite awhile, but we ran the idea of a rainbow tree by the kids, and they loved the idea! So, we embarked on our plan, and we were all quite pleased with the results! We had hoped to get it decorated today as well, but, that just leaves more fun for tomorrow, I guess! Plus, the rainbow tree looks pretty fabulous all by itself. 😉 Also included, some pictures of the kids doing some blessedly quiet workbook activities.
