Grandpa Roger arrived late last night, after the kids were already in bed, so the kids were excited to wake up this morning to see him! We all made good use of the new coffeemaker, with Brandon telling Roger our tale of woe about the old one. Roger volunteered to take a look at the old one, and within minutes, had it going again! Turns out, it just needed a bit of descaling. Cool! Now we can use the little one when we travel, like we did originally. The kids had a great time showing Roger all of their presents, and as it turned out, they had a few more to open! Yes, they didn’t even finish opening everything on Christmas day. Brian got his set of hockey guys and quickly set up a game. Kendall got the Boba Fett Lego alarm clock that Brian had insisted that we get her–at the time we chuckled and nearly didn’t go for it, but he really knows his sister! Kendall just adored it, she hugged him and talked about him and generally wouldn’t put him down. She loves this alarm clock better than any baby doll I’ve ever seen her with (note to self: I should probably get her a baby doll that isn’t a baby toy at some point here!) Brian also got a UPS playset, since he loves the UPS trucks and airplanes so much. We opened up Brian’s Play-Doh contruction site from Steve and Sue, and the kids both played with it (and Grandpa, too!) Brian made us a present, our very own Jedi starfighter with our initials on it. He wrapped it up and everything. 😉
Video of Brian, hamming it up with his new, too-big PJs:
In case you’re wondering what on Earth is going on with Brian, he’s performing what I can only imagine is a mash-up of Minion YMCA from Despicable Me 2, and the YMCA-ripoff song Empire Today (from the Kinect Star Wars video game, not the carpet folks). He’s heard the original YMCA of course, mostly at hockey games–but for whatever reason, the Minion and Star Wars versions have made a big impression! I know I laughed to the point of tears when I saw those Star Wars dance battle videos (there are a LOT more than what I linked here), and when we went to see Despicable Me 2, all the grownups laughed a lot harder at the Village Minions’ outfits than the kids did. You know, I almost wish we had an XBox+Kinect so we could play that Star Wars game–but not enough to get one. 😉

After watching Brian’s video I can see why he can eat whatever he wants and not have a weight problem. He has so much energy. Nice to see Roger with the kids.
