Marbles Party!

Marbles Party!

Whew!  Today was a busy one.  This morning, Brian had swimming lessons, and I stayed home with Kendall.  We did some drawing with her markers, and then she started connecting them, to see how far she could go.  She pretended to be Darth Maul a bit, and was very proud of herself as her marker-saber got bigger and bigger!  Then she started biting on the marker caps, which was not okay with me–knowing she was being naughty evidently just made it funnier to her!  Soon, it was time to go to her friend Connor’s 2nd birthday party at Marbles.  Brian was able to tag along, and he was definitely the big kid in attendance!  But he’s good with little kids, seeing as how he’s a pro at being a big brother. 😉  We were definitely the relaxed, second-time parents on the scene, and had our own private chuckles as the first-timers swooped in and flipped out much more than we did.

Poor Connor didn’t know what to do with his birthday candle, and after waiting for awhile, Brian walked over to try and coach him on what to do.  After Connor still didn’t do it, Brian made the whole party laugh by asking, “Sooo… Can I just do it for him?”  Eventually Connor did manage it, with a little help from Mom and Dad. 🙂  Kendall was pretty well behaved and sweet, and she liked the Sesame Street decorations (especially Elmo).  But, after the kids all got sugared up from the cupcakes, things got a little rowdy!  All of the two-year-olds started running in circles and being generally crazy, this got Brian pretty riled up, too!  He wouldn’t get off the floor, so Brandon decided to use him as a footrest (which usually gets him right up).  But not today–no, Brian stayed on the floor, and Kendall and her friend Isabel decided to serve him up a nice beatdown, which eventually ended up in a dogpile with all the little ones piling on Brian.

Once we could pry them away from the party room, we let them stay at Marbles and play as long as they could handle.  They visited many of their favorite places and activities, starting with the pirate ship.  They both went inside, and I followed–I’d never been inside, and it was fun to discover the costumes in the hold, and the cabin with the hammock!  After a little time at the water table, we split up for awhile (this happens naturally when the kids run in opposite directions) and I spent quite awhile with Kendall exploring parts of the museum we hadn’t spent too much time in before.  We had a great time in the farm area, the “get ready for school” area, the kitchen/grocery store, the submarine, the train tables, the ocean room, the ambulance, the fishing boat, and the red car!  I know she probably wasn’t supposed to take the piglet out of the farm area to give him a ride, but it was just too cute, I couldn’t put a stop to it until she was done with the car. 🙂

Kendall looks like she is driving a mini-Corvette like Grandpa Roger’s.
