Well, we may have pooh-poohed the late-arriving snow yesterday, but it’s definitely here today! School was cancelled, so we all stayed home together. The kids were impatient to go and play in the snow, so I let them play with a bowl of it from the porch during breakfast. Once we were all bundled up, we headed outside! Brian was looking forward to making a snowman, and having a snowball fight–but this snow had other ideas! I’d never seen anything like it, practically sand-like, and would not pack one bit. So, we tried playing with it with the sand toys–not much luck there either, but it’s fun just to move it around! Instead of a snowman, we ended up with a.. snow pile? snow mound? Fun for leaning on, I guess. 😉 At least he could make snow angels! We had a lot of fun outside, but eventually we were cold and wet enough to head in. We warmed up with hot cocoa, conveniently (thanks to the k-cup variety pack we had on hand!) The kids like being able to pick their own flavor. Brian is partial to the mint hot cocoa, and Kendall is just excited to have cocoa at all. 😉 Kendall loved my old Kuronekosama (that’s Japanese for Lord BlackCat, a character in a spaghetti western sort of cartoon–impossible to explain further!) hat so much, she kept on wearing it indoors. It had turned up when we were pulling out all the hats, gloves, and scarves we could find. The kids went all out playing in the play kitchen, and Brian made up his own restaurant called Saf Mac (that’s pronounced “Chef Make”–because the chef makes your food). 🙂 He came up with a good number of menu items and recipes, and created his own menu. Very cool, Brian! We made some snowflake stamp art, and watched Daddy shovel the driveway. I was really glad we had recently stocked up on convenience foods from Trader Joe’s–it was nice being able to surprise the kids with corn dogs for lunch!

The Eskimos have 25 words to describe snow, sorry you got the sand-like snow. The photos of all 4 of you are very good.
