Lego Kids Fest is back in Raleigh! We didn’t think it would be back so soon–usually they don’t repeat cities, but I suppose the Fest was a big success here! I know we did our part when it was here last time, and today was no different. 😉 Like before, the Fest is about four hours of somewhat-controlled chaos, and never seems quite long enough. There were some new attractions this year, and Kendall got a lot more out of it this time! She enjoyed the Duplo piles quite a bit (I am always a little dismayed that they make two Duplo piles, one of standard bricks and one of pink princess bricks–why not mix them together? Argh!) Kendall had fun with both piles, though, and we made some cool things with the Cinderella castle elements. I did not plan on liking that princess stuff at all, but..! Kendall showed me that there are more possibilities than I’d considered. 🙂 She also really liked the Lego Friends section–she’s technically too little for those, but she can build with them like bigger kids, and she doesn’t try to eat the small pieces anymore. 😉 Brian had a very special Fest, because both Ty and Nico also attended! He spent some time with each friend, and all three of them managed to get together now and then. Brian enjoyed the car racing as usual, and he spent some time with the Chima stuff with Ty, and attended the Master Builder session with Nico. There were lots of cool life-size models, and the Star Wars ones were pretty popular. Kendall liked the Lego Movie and Lego Friends ones, especially a very cute little panda bear. He was really cute–I loved all the details and his little teeth! Brian liked the tiger a lot, and the super heroes (even though he insists he’s not into superheroes). We picked up some items for the kids at the shop, and Brian told us some ideas for his wish list–particularly this Star Wars Republic Gunship. The kids both played in the giant brick pile, making brick angels and crashing noisily through the bricks. We stayed until the closing bell, just like before, and although it was tough to leave, we had to. Kendall was pretty much toast by the end, so we had to head home for her nap. With one last burst of energy, the kids leaped onto their plasma cars in the garage–but we did get Kendall down for a nap, eventually, and Brian played with more Legos on the first floor. He made a pretty awesome minifigure party, and we remembered to take some pictures of the Family House with the light-up chandelier that we’d built awhile ago.

It is just amazing what can be built with Legos. I liked the panda bear the best.
