Swimming, Party, and School on Saturday!

Today started early, with Brian’s swim lessons this morning!  Kendall tagged along, and Brandon got some cute pictures of them sitting outside in the sun.  Then, Brian was off to get a haircut while I hung out with Kendall.  Later, Brian went to his friend Emily’s birthday party–he was happy to discover that that it was at Orange Leaf, one of our favorite frozen yogurt places nearby.  He picked out this kind of weird-looking octopus birthday card for her, and while he was writing the message inside, I got a little worried when he started with “You are one”!  But, what he wanted to write ended up rather sweet:  “You are one birthday octopus!  You can handle anything.”  Kendall napped a little while Brian partied, but was up fairly quickly, so yours truly didn’t get to make a lot of progress on this blog, yet again!  It was a nice day and the kids were still full of energy, so once the boys got home, we decided to pick up a picnic dinner from Neomonde took it over to Root.  The idea was to eat, and then let the kids race plasma cars and tear around the playground until they got tired, hopefully resulting in an early bedtime–but that worked about as well as usual. 😉  The plasma cars are so noisy on the track, I hope it didn’t disturb all the neighbors!  Luckily the playground equipment was also a big hit, and Brian spent some time playing soccer with Brandon as well.  The kids both love this round spinning toy–I’m not sure what to call it, it’s like a smooth tractor tire, mounted at an angle, so there’s  a high side and a low side.  Kendall gets a real charge out of feeling the acceleration as she whirls around to the low side!  They also have these odd angled buckets that spin, and Kendall kept wanting to try them, even though I think those felt a little bit scary to her as she spun around!

We adults would all be much fitter if we went to the playground, too.
