It’s picture day for the kids! It started out bright and early, thanks to Kendall. She’s picked up another of her brother’s two-year-old habits, that of crawling into bed with us overnight. She does it multiple times, usually kicking me in the face repeatedly, before one of us removes her back to her room. She brings various items with her, and while Brian would just bring his Tiger and polar bear consistently, Kendall brings different items every time. Sometimes it’s books, sometimes it’s toys.. Usually I find out what it is when it hits me in the face, but sometimes I find more surprises tangled up in the blankets after we get up for the day. The sleep deprivation isn’t treating me well, and this morning I managed to fumble for my phone and snap a photo of her, with flash, without even opening my eyes. You’re caught, baby! Anyway. Nobody had enough sleep, and honestly, I was expecting a huge nuclear-grade meltdown disaster of a photo shoot, but, the kids surprised me and more or less behaved. We changed them back into play clothes and rewarded them with a trip to the toy store. Tonight, I realized I had an overabundance of tomatoes and peppers, and some fancy organic ground beef, and I decided to make spaghetti sauce from scratch. It didn’t look like much for awhile there, but after a long simmer and some tomato paste, it made for a passable ragù!
