Today was our last day at the beach for this spring break! We had a nice relaxing breakfast together, and let the kids play while we worked on packing up. We spent a little more time outside, and Brian found some “stoplight leaves”–red, yellow, and green. Plus, he found the biggest pine cone he’d ever seen! It’s still too cool out for the kayaks, but we had to promise Brian that he’d get to use them later this summer, once it warms up. Once we got them all packed up, we decided to take the scenic route home, and visit Paul’s Place for lunch. It had been awhile, and we needed to restock on special relish! We ordered the dogs our favorite way, with onions, mustard, and special relish. Even though Brian complained at first about not liking mustard, he did try it, and had to agree that it was delicious! We got our jars of special relish, some interesting jellies and jams, and saw this cool vintage astronaut Cabbage Patch Kid. I would have loved that thing back in the 80’s! We some ice cream for the road and headed home. We ran into some terrible traffic, due to a tanker truck accident and subsequent fire–we were parked on the highway for so long, the kids watched the entire Little Mermaid movie before we got clear of the snarled traffic and past the accident. That made things pretty rough, but we survived, and made it home well after dark. Whew!

Maureen’s Cabbage Patch doll was named Mathilda. The astronaut one is cute. What a beautiful beach property!
