Goddard Open House

We started off our Saturday with a Lego Club meeting where the theme was Spider-Man.  We aren’t all that up-to-date on the happenings in the Marvel universe, and we’d never even heard of Electro, the villian featured on this week’s t-shirt.  But, no matter–building is fun no matter what, and Brian was happy enough to get an Electro minifigure, his lightning bolts look a lot like force lightning, so Brian was cool with it.  🙂  He wanted to make minifigures, as always, but I got him to accept me just taking pictures of his funny knights.  They are pretty funny!  After Lego Club, it was time to go to the Goddard Open House.  We hardly miss any Goddard events, but it’s because the kids really enjoy going to them (and we appreciate the free food!)  The kids loved the new giant foam building set (they’d played with a similar set at the Life+Science museum in Durham!)  Kendall loved playing on the big-kid playground, especially the slide, and delivering me a play-letter.  She’ll be moving onto this playground really soon, and I know she’ll be glad!  We played inside after we ate and it started getting really hot.  Kendall liked the baby dolls in the preschool room, and their new table-style smart board.  Brian enjoyed making circle paintings with some repurposed bottles, and driving the truck the preschoolers had made from recycled materials.   It was tough to get the kids out of there, we have this tendency to always be the last to leave..!  But we bribed them with a promise to visit Fresh for ice cream.  It was a great day for it, and we enjoyed our treats outdoors!  Back at home, we played Legos downstairs, and after Kendall’s nap, I let the kids have their yellow Peeps candy. 🙂

When I read your stories I sometimes just want to run out for ice cream or fast food but Roger’s reason prevails.
