Mother’s Day School Events

Both of the kids’ schools had events to celebrate Mother’s Day today!  I’m not always able to make it to daytime events, but this year, I was able to!  Brian’s class invited us moms to come by in the morning to receive our special gifts–a clay pendant, and a beautiful artwork of flowers in a vase!  Brian’s teacher said these were suitable for framing, and I think I will absolutely have to do that.  Brian’s picture shows such amazing detail, I can tell he really studied the arrangement they used as the model for their still life.  I asked Ladd’s mom to take a picture of us, and we did the same for them!  Ladd is one of Brian’s best buddies at school.  I took pictures of some of Brian’s other artwork that is hanging up in the hall outside of his classroom as well.  We were there during morning announcements, which on Fridays end with playing a popular song–today it was the ubiquitous “Happy” by Pharrell, and the kids spontaneously started dancing to it!  Brian of course got his groove on for maximum effect, and I had to sneak a video!  This afternoon was the Mother’s Day Tea at Goddard, and I got to enjoy a snack of cookies and tea with Miss K.  She was very happy to see me, and unabashedly started in on my cookies after she finished her own!  It was earlier than our usual pickup, but I decided to go ahead and take her home early and just have some girl time.  Kendall wanted to ride her trike, and we played in the garage and enjoyed frozen lemonade.  Also included, the morning sing-along in the car to their favorite song “Pompeii” by Bastille, and lightsaber battles with those flimsy toys from the baseball game!  They don’t seem to be made for battling at all–I expect they aren’t going to last long with these two!
