Lego Club, Star Wars Edition

Today was a Star Wars themed Lego Club meeting, and Brian had a fabulous time!  The staff was super-pumped up and really went all out to make this club meeting special.  The kids got two minifigures today, both an Anakin and a Battle Droid, plus, they got to keep their creations!  Brian of course won a Star Wars trivia question, and got an extra prize.  They did parent trivia questions today, and I was a little surprised to find that I knew every single answer. 😉  I quickly won a Lego Club t-shirt of my own, and fed answers to some of the other parents who were struggling with their Star Wars trivia, and who hadn’t yet memorized the new Lego catalog. 😀  At the end of the meeting, the staff had one more surprise for the kids–instead of cleaning up, the kids got to grab all the Legos they could in 10 seconds and stuff them in their goodie bags!  Wow.  We were just floored by all the extra prizes and fun.  Of course we had a Star Wars coupon in our goodie bag, so we picked up a small set that Brian had been looking at for awhile.  He really wants the Sand Crawler, and tried out the Virtual Box–a screen where you can hold up a box, and an animation of the assembled model comes on screen, rotates 360 degrees, and then flies off.  This was particularly cool for such a big set!  I wish we could get him all the special big sets he wants (there’s only a few–usually he wants smaller sets, since he can finish faster!)  But at a couple hundred dollars, we can’t just get a Sandcrawler whenever we feel like it.  Maybe there’s a special elf out there who would like to surprise him for Christmas..? 😉  Also included, pics of Kendall looking at the American Girl catalog.  I don’t know how they found us, but we started getting these about the time our sonogram indicated she was a girl!  Kendall really likes the 2014 Doll of the Year, Isabelle, and I do, too!  I mean, how can I resist?  She’s blonde, with green eyes, she has removable pink highlights for her hair, she’s a ballet dancer, and she designs and sews her own costumes.  Yes, they give the dolls enough backstory to flesh out three novels and a movie. 😉  Kendall probably couldn’t play with her for a few years yet, but I will probably have to get this one before the year is out.  I do plan to get her a Bitty Baby for her birthday, which is more suitable for a 3-year-old.  (Edited to add:  thanks to my cousin Carey Ann sharing her coupon with me, I picked up Kendall’s Bitty Baby in July for $20 off!)  Kendall was acting very sleepy, and I was exhausted myself (probably due to the six-weeks-of-hell project I’m dealing with at work).  (Edited to add:  that project ended up being eight weeks of hell, but I digress!)  Kendall fell alseep in my arms on the chaise lounge, and I fell asleep there, too, right after taking this #napselfie. 😉

Maureen got the first 4 or 5 American Girls and she still has them in their original boxes. You probably know the company started out in Middleton by Patience Rowland in 1986. She later sold the company to Mattel. My favorite doll is Molly. I liked the idea that they came with a book.
