They Did It “My Way!”

Today started Brian’s second week of summer camp, back at Marbles this week, for a morning session focused on Magic Treehouse!  It was a bright and sunny morning, and Kendall was looking cool in her shades on the way to school.  Marbles was getting things kicked off in a festive way, with a bubble maker running at the front door!  That was helpful in keeping the kids entertained before the doors opened up.  We got him safely to his room, and he was ready to get right to it!  We don’t have afternoon care for Brian this week, but since he’s downtown nearby, and he’s been asking to come to work with us for awhile anyway, we’ve planned on just taking him with us back to Red Hat tower in the afternoons this week.  We walked over to get him at lunchtime, and he walked back to the tower with us, had lunch, and basically chilled in a conference room with one or both of us for the afternoon.  He played on the iPad a lot, and took advantage of the big marker board!  After school, we saw that one of the little plants we’d gotten at Lowes up in the mountains had bloomed–cool!  It was new toothpaste day for the kids, and Kendall was super-stoked that I’d gotten her a tube of “My Way” toothpaste–it’s a mostly blank tube, with six whole sheets of stickers to decorate it with!  That’s way too much for one tube, so Brian decorated his tube as well, and then they moved onto our tube!  We now have the most festive toothpaste of any family, I’d wager.  Such a simple thing, stickers on toothpaste tubes, but I can’t overstate how cool this was for the kiddoes!  They thought this was the best thing ever.  I noticed that the good folks at Marbles had posted a really great photo of Brian’s class on their camp Tumblr this evening–I’m so glad Brian was front-and-center and looking right at the camera!  This is a new thing for them this week, they’ll be posting photos and updates of what the campers have been up to.  I’m really looking forward to it!  🙂
