Dragon Fever!

Dragon Fever!

Today the kids surprised me while I was getting ready with a cute bowl of stuffed animal friends!  Aww..  We had a nice relaxing breakfast on the porch, with some mini breakfast sticky buns from Williams-Sonoma.  Yum!  Then, it was time for the main event of the day–heading out to Southpoint to go see How to Train Your Dragon 2!  Oh, it was fantastic, really a wonderful movie, maybe even better than the first!  Wow.  I am pretty sure the dragons have moved in to stay–in our hearts! 😉  We got lunch at California Pizza Kitchen afterward, and I took advantage of a summer sale at Pottery Barn Kids and picked up a couple things for the kids, including some cool shark and stingray cups and tumblers, which we plan on taking to the beach house so Steve and Sue can have some thematic unbreakable kid dishes there!  We were still thinking about Dragons and talking about them so much, that I asked Brandon to make a side trip to the toy store, where I picked up an adorable plush Toothless dragon for Brian, and a cute little Stormfly dragon for Kendall!  They didn’t realize what I was doing, and they were so surprised to get their new dragon friends!!  They loved them instantly.  I’ve since purchased the complete soundtracks for both movies, and Brian is now requesting to hear Dragon songs before bedtime. 🙂  Y’all, we have hit peak Dragon in all of about 18 hours–there’s a new favorite franchise in town!  I can pretty much guarantee that there’s going to be a Viking-size portion of Dragon items getting added to Brian’s wish list here in the near future, and probably Kendall’s, too!!  😉

This is a video that Brandon had wanted me to see this morning, and we ended up watching it on the way to SouthPoint–there’s a little bit of strong language at the end around 5:20 (!) but a strategic cough or two ensured that it went right over the kids’ heads. 😉  We have since watched it a bunch more times, and the kids think it’s hilarious with all the costume changes.  Brandon and I have had a great time identifying all the songs (there’s about 47 in there!) and we’re now fans of these Australian comedy rockers!  (Okay, being honest, we could only identify about half the first time or two through–clearly we are deep into this parenthood thing, and not paying attention to pop music!  Not that we paid attention to the popular stuff before.  But definitely not now!) 😀

  1. Grandma Cheryl and Grandpa Roger

Grandma watched the music video today and picked up John Denver, Men at Work and that is about all. They are talented to incorporate so many artists into one performance. Bad language is everywhere. So long as we teach our children that it is not polite to use it. Grandpa picked up on 5:20 instantly while he was working on the den door project.
    Grandma liked the photos.
