Art Camp Roundup!

Today was Brian’s last day of his Ancient Adventures art camp, and honestly, before this afternoon, we didn’t have a clue as to what he’d been working on all week!  Of course we asked him, but usually all he felt like talking about was playing at after-care, or nothing at all.  Certainly nothing about the ancient Greeks and Romans!  We weren’t even sure if he was having a great time there..!  But today, all of that changed, when we came to his art show.  We had told Rosemary about the camp this week, and she and Sytse met us there this afternoon for the big reveal.  When we were allowed back to the camp room, we found a positively giddy Brian, waiting at his table which was absolutely filled with all of his creations!  He made a fantastic Trojan Horse, a real tile mosaic, a Pandora’s box, a lovely fresco-style peacock, a clay sculpture, one of Hermes’ winged shoes, a weaving, a spider representing Arachne the weaver, a clay ring, and even a set of gold, silver, and bronze Olympic medals.  He had even made a small book, remembering his Great-Grandmother Rose. After the show, we dropped off Brian’s treasures at our house, and decided to go out for dinner together at Dos Taquitos.  The kids love the train that runs around the ceiling, and all the fun and funky decor.  We all love the delicious, authentic food!  The staff always manages to do something to entertain the kids, whether it was the motorized butterfly mobile when Kendall was a baby, to the surprise scorpion that visited our table this evening!  On the way out, we saw a band setting up outside, which the kids found really cool.  All in all, it was a great afternoon together.  I can’t wait to see what Brian makes next year in art camp!  I’m already planning on signing him up for the Ancient Egypt themed camp! 🙂
