Painting Projects, and Peach Cobbler

I was home with Brian this morning before his Backyard Explorers camp at Laurel Hills, and we took the opportunity to do some painting projects!  He painted up his picture frame/shadow box thing with lots of cool paint colors.  We made some other things with scrap wood, including a shield, a flaming sword, and some signs.  I finally fixed Kendall’s elephant on her lamp–she’d had a mishap with some books on her shelf, and they fell on the lamp and broke his trunk off.  She had been asking me “Can you fix my elephant?” incessantly for days, so I was glad to see how happy she was that I’d finally done it!  We also managed to play a bit of his new Dragon video game.  I like it pretty well!  Most of the music is calming, and it’s fun wandering around the island of Berk completing missions.  Of course there are some dragon battles as well, but there’s also plenty of time spent feeding and caring for one’s dragon.  Brian came home from camp with a cool painted “pet rock”.  I’d bought the 10lb case of “scratch and dent” peaches this week, which meant that they needed to be cut up and cooked really soon–so in our house, that means a big ol’ peach cobbler!  It is a sticky mess cutting up all those peaches but so worth it!  The kids always snag a bunch of fresh slices as I’m working on it.  Kendall was so fun to watch as she was eating the finished peach cobbler with ice cream!  She made the best reaction faces, including a priceless “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing!” when she finished it all!

Peach cobbler is so good. Brian, Grandma liked your pet rocks and all the things you painted.
