Today was a busy one! We checked on our caterpillars again this morning at Goddard–still munching, if maybe a bit slower. We watched a few of them decide they are full, and drop off of the leaves, quickly burrowing under the pine straw. This afternoon, Brian had an early release day, so we went ahead and got the kids early and took them along as we picked up Brian’s birthday cake. It’s a 3D Captain Rex helmet, and we all thought they did a fantastic job of it! The cake is chocolate, and the frosting (underneath all that fondant) is mint. Brian loves the chocolate mint cupcakes from the Cupcake Shoppe, so this was his requested combo. Once the harrowing drive was over (you really feel every single pothole and sharp turn when you’re holding a cake!) and the cake was safely stowed in the fridge at home, Brian was off to his first hockey class, and I got to have some Kendall time, doing puzzles.
Video follows, which shows Brian all geared up at his first Initiation to Hockey class, and Kendall before bedtime, singing along to some of her puppy’s songs. Brian may be the King of Hilarious Misheard Lyrics, but Kendall is Queen of Singing Along to Songs She Kinda Knows the Words To. 😉 She knows these pretty well, but she even sings along with songs she is hearing for the first time! Her predictive melody algorithms are actually pretty good. 😀

Wow, what a birthday cake! Brian, you look like hockey player ready to play.
Watched the video, too and enjoyed Brian’s skating and Kendall’s singing.
