Decorative Gourd Season

It’s decorative gourd season, y’all!  We don’t do things halfway around here, so we have gobs of gourds, and piles of pumpkins.  Kendall was looking festive in her Hello Kitty Halloween outfit!  Brian had a teacher workday today, and he did some artful decoration with the gourds on the stairs, and had a happy-face hot dog & mac and cheese lunch, thanks to Brandon!  We made our Darth Vader and Kitty pumpkins, surprising Kendall with them when she got home.  I started the carving tonight, by making a Lego minifigure-face pumpkin at Brian’s request.  Kendall now wants a minifigure girl. 😉 The kids made sure to do lots of “ewwwww, gross!” when pulling out the pumpkin insides!  At bedtime, we reminded Kendall that she gets to wear her Buttercup Fairy costume really soon, and let her try out her fairy wand!  Brandon knew that the plastic segments that it came with wouldn’t last through one battle with her Viking big brother (and we know they won’t be able to resist, no matter how much we tell them not to!), so he replaced them with a nice wooden dowel.

Grandma loved the pumpkins, Brian’s fun lunch and Kendall’s frilly skirt.
