Red Hat Halloween Party

Tonight was the annual Red Hat family Halloween party!  Brandon brought the kids to the tower and we got them ready to head inside.  They look pretty fantastic, don’t they?  Brian makes a fierce Viking, and Kendall makes the most beautiful buttercup fairy!  Once we were ready, we headed in for the main event, and a wild time was had by all.  It’s fairly chaotic and crowded, but the kids had fun playing silly carnival games, getting candy and prizes, and taking a tour through the haunted house.  Both kids got glitter tattoos, and Brian even got a rather hilarious mustache and goatee attempt from the face-painting lady (to be fair, she usually does fantasy animals, realism is not her jam.)  Kendall loved getting the plush monster-ball prizes, she had one of every color and called them “my babies!!”  We went to the story time hoping for a bit of a calming break, but of course, Brandon and Brian both got called up to participate in the “there’s a giant bug in your pants!” dance (predictably done to Yakety Sax.)  Brian did get a signed book for his participation.  We stayed until they were closing things down once again, and then headed home.  We had all the ingredients to make our own pizza from our Produce Box, so we had fun assembling that (and eating it, of course!)  I had some more pumpkin carving to do, including making a Lego girl face at Kendall’s request.  That kept me occupied past the kids’ bedtime, but I’m sure they’ll be happy with the result.  Brandon discovered we have a cool spider living in our doorframe as he brought the pumpkins in.
