Today is Kendall’s third birthday! We had her party at home, and decorated the house up with Flower Fairies-themed decorations. Her famous Buttercup Fairy costume from Halloween is one of the Mary Cicely Barker creations that I liked so much when I was a little girl. I’m so glad Kendall likes them, too! We let her wear the costume for her party, since it’s thematic. 😉 We had a beautiful cake from the Cupcake Shoppe again, hand-painted by our favorite designer, featuring Kendall’s favorite Buttercup Fairy. The designer knew of the Flower Fairies herself, and said she’d painted them before when she was in school. How lucky! We could hardly believe how beautiful the cake was. We also had some mini cupcakes with lovely flowers on top to go with. Poor Brandon ended up doing the bulk of the preparations and decorating last night, as I’m having quite a hard time recovering from that endometrial ablation. (The Christmas parade yesterday nearly finished me off, I really wasn’t sure how I was going to get through this day, but I managed!) Kendall loved all the decorations, and she and Brian decorated the sliding door with removable Fairies stickers. Kendall had a good number of friends in attendance, including her cousins Ava and Ashton! I was very happy to see Carey Ann as well. 🙂 Kendall had fun playing with her friends, and Brian had some friends to keep him busy, too. Steve was having a hard time today and couldn’t make the party, but he and Sue did stop by afterward to deliver a special present for Kendall–a beautiful Rapunzel doll! Carey Ann got to see Steve for a bit before she left, which was a happy coincidence. Kendall got a Shrinky Dinks maker from Carey Ann’s family–wow, we are going to have a lot of fun with that, I know! After the party wound down, Brian made himself a robot costume with a shopping bag. Kendall did have two special presents from Brandon and I. One was a poster and tickets to the upcoming Disney Frozen On Ice show, coming soon! I’m not quite sure she understands what it’ll be, but I know she’ll love it. Kendall’s other special present is her first American Girl doll, Bitty Baby! Kendall’s new friend came with a suitcase full of accessories, and a pretty red outfit for Christmas. We asked if she wanted to give Bitty Baby another name, but she says her name is Bitty Baby, so that’s that, I suppose! Kendall got more excited about her once she was out of the box. 🙂 We tried out Bitty Baby’s outfits and looked at all of her fun accessories. We read Bitty Baby’s book at bedtime, and it was a hit! Kendall also got a Buttercup Fairy ornament from me. We’ll put it on the tree at Christmas time, and always remember this was the year of the Buttercup Fairy at our house!
