Frozen on Ice

Today it was finally time to see Frozen on Ice, after buying our tickets many months ago!  The kids were very excited about going to the show.  We had never been to any other Disney on Ice show, so we didn’t really know what we were in for.  Brandon and I privately thought it would probably be pretty cheesy, short, and exceedingly overpriced.  In reality, it was only one of those things, with pretty high production quality, and a solid 2.5 hours of entertainment.  😉  We had prepaid for the kids to get a light-up toy along with their tickets, but we had no idea what a gigantic noisy spinning thing it would really be!  Of course they think those things are great, but they’re already driving me crazy with them.  By intermission, we were fully into the spirit of things, and the kids got cotton candy treats (with a sparkly crown for Kendall as a prize that came with it), a rainbow sno-cone (in a commemorative plastic stein–yes, really), and I even picked up some surprises at one of the many souvenir stands (a program book, a t-shirt for Kendall, a fuzzy snowflake-shaped pillow, and a sparkly plush Pascal (the chameleon friend of Rapunzel’s, in Tangled).  After the show, we had a quick lunch, and put together some care package items for Steve, who has been in the hospital since early yesterday.  The kids could come and visit in his new room today, so we brought him a small Christmas tree, a couple decorations they made for him, and a card that Brian worked really hard on for him.  Brian thought that a couple balloons were just the thing you need in the hospital, so we let them each pick out a balloon.  Kendall picked the Get Well Soon one, and Brian chose the “Pirate Party” one since he knows his Grandpa loves pirate stuff, and thought it would cheer him up.  I smuggled in a couple of tea cakes as well, hoping that Dad could have them once he was off the clear fluids diet.  The kids were about as good as we could expect, and hopefully didn’t wear Steve out too much.  We’re just taking things day by day, and we’re all really hoping he can come home in time for Christmas.
