Christmas Eve 2014

It’s Christmas Eve, and the kids are predictably over-excited and bouncing off the walls!  Well, who can blame them.  🙂  We had holiday donuts thanks to Nana Rosemary to start the day off with a sugary bang.  Both kids had new holiday character shirts to wear.  Once everyone was dressed, we worked on some crafts together. Brian made a Viking shield out of paper, and Kendall and I made a My Little Pony sticker picture together. Before long, Nana and Sytse were here for our Christmas dinner!  We had a great meal, and the kids got to open up their presents from them early.  My goodness, they sure racked up!  Brian got the huge Lego King’s Castle and some excellent books, and Kendall received a Princess Celestia from Build-A-Bear, un-stuffed, so that we can take her there and let her experience all the joy.  🙂  Kendall also got some cool Frozen costumes for her bear, so she can dress it up like Queen Elsa, and a set of Frozen books as well.  We were treated to some of Sytse’s piano playing, and Brian got his Christmas wish of playing indoor hockey downstairs!  Kendall got some fun deliveries this afternoon, her Frozen winter boots, and a Frozen fold-out couch, to match Brian’s Dragon one!  We finished up our Lego Advent Calendars, and the kids had their baths and got into their holiday pajamas.  Unfortunately, Brian managed to work in some last-minute naughtiness, and lost the chance to have one last Christmas cookie before bed.. 🙁  But, we did let them have a bit of egg nog (or, as we jokingly called it, Yak Nog, after this gag in the Dragon holiday special!)  We finished up the night with a reading of Twas the Night Before Christmas, and a listen to the classic Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians musical version of the poem.  Once the kids were finally tucked in their beds, we were ready to call it a night *yawn*–oh, wait.  Work was just beginning for Santa’s helpers.  😉
