Today, Kendall got her wish of going skating with her new pink skates! We packed up and went to the IcePlex, and everyone but me strapped on their skates and hit the ice. (I’ve never learned how to skate, and I’m not willing to risk an injury right now, no thanks!) I found a nice spot to watch the action, bundled up, activated a pile of handwarmers, and enjoyed the show. 😉 Kendall could stand on her skates right away, but she seemed to freeze up on the ice (if you’ll pardon the expression). Brandon nearly destroyed his back, helping her inch around the rink. It looked like a struggle sometimes from where I was sitting, but Kendall’s big smiles when she passed by let me know she was having fun. Brian zipped around the rink like a pro, and I couldn’t help but chuckle when he seemed to be dancing along with the music. They really cheese it up during public skate, but somehow cheesy pop songs seem just right in that context. (Not gonna lie, I laughed every time a skater lost their balance and had arms flailing during the “whoa-oa-oooa-oa-ooooah” part in “What Is Love”–that is just comedy gold right there. And I don’t even go for physical comedy!) Back at home, a very tired but happy Kendall helped me make a ham and swiss quiche for dinner. It’s become something of an after-Christmas tradition for us!
