Brian loves rocks, as you probably know–but he didn’t know that I also liked rocks when I was a kid! While consolidating some jewelry and other special items into a new jewelry box, I came across my old rock collection. Brian was intrigued, looked at each rock, and separated them out by color. He even used Great-Grandma Legried’s beads to encircle and decorate them. 🙂 Brian was also surprised to see my “medals”–pins and such from various high school honors. I told him about all of the items, those that were given to me, those I’d inherited, who they came from, and why, for as long as he was interested to listen. I wish I knew a bit more about my dad’s items, and his dad’s items.. I did the best I could, though, and I think Brian gained a bit of appreciation for our family treasures. 🙂

I have seen in geology museums the date and place found are written on the rock itself. I wish I would have done that on all the rocks Grandpa and I have picked up.
